Description

The Senior Manager Policy and Projects is responsible for managing key activities of the College’s strategic plan and coordinating projects towards achieving College objectives. These areas of work include Indigenous eye health and workforce planning, data collation and analysis. The role (Senior Manager Policy and Projects) is part of a small team who research, develop and prepare submissions, position statements and advocacy activities related to health issues and systems in Australia and New Zealand. The Senior Manager Policy and Projects advises on the implementation of policy, builds external relationships and represents RANZCO as appropriate, collates relevant data, conducts research and submits reports for a wide range of stakeholders, as well as organising and providing secretariat support to relevant Standing Committees and working groups of the College.

Requirements

Manage the work of RANZCO in advancing Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Eye Health, including:

  • Coordinating engagement with other members, committees, Special Interest Groups / Societies, other Colleges, related associations and societies where relevant to the work of the supported RANZCO committees;
  • Support and advise the RANZCO Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Eye Health Committee;
  • Support and advise the RANZCO Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group;
  • Coordinating engagement with external agencies when appropriate;
  • Prepare RANZCO policy statements, submissions, reports, communication with members, briefings and correspondence, as prioritised by Committees, Board, or Executive;
  • Respond to written and verbal enquiries from members, the public and other organisations;
  • Represent RANZCO externally in the Aboriginal eye health sector, and maintain relationships across the sector
  • Provide strategic advice on RANZCO’s work in this sector.

Support the development of robust, evidence-based workforce planning including:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of a plan to establish a RANZCO Regional Training Program (RTP) in Australia;
  • Liaise with stakeholders including PHNs, hospital administrators and jurisdictions;
  • Collate and regularly update ophthalmology-related data from external sources, including: MBS, AHPRA, APRA, ABS, TGA, PBS, and others;
  • Conduct membership surveys when required, including supporting the RANZCO Workforce Survey and post-survey data analysis;
  • Prepare data snapshots for RANZCO Branches and/or Special Interest Groups / Societies as required;
  • Perform data analysis and prepare reports as required by RANZCO Policy Committees, Board, and Executive;
  • Monitoring relevant literature and emerging information relevant to the role, including any publications and consultations relevant to the areas of work of RANZCO policy committees.

Other duties include:

  • Undertake other projects, outside the roles and responsibilities outlined above, as requested by the General Manager, Policy and Programs;
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation;
  • Contribute to the success of the team in meeting RANZCO’s aims and objectives through mentoring colleagues;
  • Act as RANZCO Representative on external committees as required.
